U.S. strikes on Iran could lead to Washington's involvement in protracted conflict, further oil price hikes - Russian expert

MOSCOW. June 23 (Interfax) - The U.S. strikes on nuclear facilities in Iran show that President Donald Trump took the risk fraught with Washington's potential direct involvement in the long-running Middle East conflict, chief researcher at the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of U.S. and Canadian Studies Vladimir Batyuk said, adding that this decision could also cause a surge in oil prices.
